WinGD Wins Global Service Agreement for TMS Cardiff Gas LNG Carrier Newbuilds

WinGD has secured a long-term engine service agreement covering three newbuilds operated by Athens-based ship management company TMS Cardiff Gas Ltd. The three LNG carriers built by HD Hyundai Samho in South Korea are each equipped with two of WinGD's 5X72DF dual-fuel engines. The agreement further strengthens WinGD's lifecycle support for the Greek shipping community, one of the world's most important ship owning and ship management markets and a key center for globally operating fleets.

The agreement, covering all six dual-fuel LNG main engines, will give the operator direct access to WinGD’s engine designer expertise and global service network from the beginning of the vessels’ operational lives, supporting their long-term performance, reliability, and availability. This package of global support includes spare parts for scheduled maintenance, technical labor, workshop services, advisory support, and remote monitoring, troubleshooting, and engine optimization using WinGD’s WiDE (Integrated Digital Expert) platform.

For an Athens-based operator managing vessels across international trades, the combination of direct OEM expertise and a worldwide service network provides continuity of support wherever the vessels operate. The agreement also reflects the growing role of Global Service by WinGD in building long-term relationships with Greek owners and operators beyond the initial delivery of the engine.

“Our solutions make a real difference to the performance and profitability of ships. With Global Service by WinGD, we can safeguard efficiency, reliability, and performance throughout a vessel’s operational life, giving operators continued access to the same engine expertise behind the technology from day one,” said Jürgen Gerdes, General Manager Global Service Sales, WinGD.

“Greece is an important market for WinGD, with owners and managers here operating some of the world’s most significant internationally trading fleets. Being able to support those customers throughout the lifecycle of their vessels is therefore an important part of the continued development of Global Service by WinGD. We’re delighted that these vessels will benefit from dedicated support from the start of their operational lives, backed by expertise and a service network capable of supporting them wherever they trade.”

George Theodosiou, Technical Manager at TMS Cardiff Gas Ltd, said: “We deliver for our customers wherever and whenever they need it, and it’s critical that our ships’ engines do the same. It’s reassuring to know our newbuild LNG carriers have the long-term support of the engine designer, and a network that can support their operations worldwide. We’re delighted to partner with WinGD to support the long-term reliability and performance of our fleet and continue delivering value to our customers.”

Built on a foundation of over 125 years of two-stroke engine design expertise, Global Service by WinGD pairs the Swiss-headquartered company’s deep-rooted understanding of the vessel energy system with a global service network delivering field service, technical support, and spare parts. By combining these capabilities with digital monitoring and optimization, Global Service extends WinGD’s relationship with customers beyond engine delivery and throughout the vessel’s operational lifecycle.

Global Service complements the lifecycle support already offered to WinGD engine users through the company’s digital optimization, hybrid energy integration and management, and crew training solutions. For Greek owners and ship managers operating internationally, this provides access to WinGD expertise through a coordinated service offering designed to support vessels wherever their trading patterns take them.
