TGS, a leading global provider of energy data and intelligence, has announced an agreement with Empresa Nacional de Pesquisa e Exploração Petrolíferas E.P. (PetroGuin) for the rights to reprocess the JAAN 3D seismic dataset across Guinea-Bissau on a multi-client basis.

The agreement permits TGS to reprocess more than 11,000 km² of 3D seismic data, building on the parties’ previous 2019 PSDM reprocessing. TGS will apply its advanced imaging technologies, including elastic dynamic-matching full waveform inversion (E-DMFWI) and Kirchhoff pre-stack depth migration (KPSDM), and expects a significant uplift in image quality compared with the existing data.

The improved imaging will enhance assessment of both clastic and carbonate targets across the margin, giving explorers greater confidence in their evaluation of prospectivity as they plan future exploration activity in Guinea-Bissau.

TGS will conduct the project in collaboration with GeoPartners, with reprocessing planned to begin in Q4 2026, and final products expected in Q4 2027.

Dr. Alfredo Malu, General Director at PetroGuin, commented, “PetroGuin highly values its longstanding partnership with TGS and reaffirms its commitment to fully honoring all obligations undertaken under this collaboration, in support of the sustainable development of Guinea-Bissau’s oil and gas sector.”

David Hajovsky, Executive Vice President at TGS, commented, “This agreement with PetroGuin allows us to apply our latest imaging technologies to a large 3D dataset across Guinea-Bissau. This reprocessing will deliver a clear step change in image quality, helping companies better evaluate both clastic and carbonate plays across the margin.”

The agreement was signed in person at the African Energy Week 2026 event in Cape Town.
