SpillAsia forms part of the international triennial series of oil spill conferences, alongside Interspill and the International Oil Spill Conference (IOSC), bringing together industry, government, regulators, response organizations, and technical specialists from around the world.
Visitors can expect an exclusive preview of a significant new capability OSRL has been developing to further strengthen global subsea response readiness. Delegates will receive an early look ahead of its formal unveiling during the event.
Mario Fazio, Global Integration Manager at OSRL, said: “SpillAsia is an important event in the industry calendar, and we’re pleased to be playing a leading role throughout the program. It’s a valuable opportunity to advance industry practice by bringing together partners from across the sector. We’re also excited to be giving delegates an early glimpse of a major development we’ve been working on; we look forward to revealing more at the event.”
OSRL experts will participate across multiple sessions during the event, presenting on topics including artificial intelligence, plastic pellet pollution, dispersant operations, wildlife response, and preparedness in developing nations.
Confirmed contributions include:
- James Tan Zhi Hao – Chair, Session 16: Outreach and Communication – Preparedness
- Paul Kelway – Chair, Session 9: Response Updates – Wildlife Management
- Bronwyn Lee – Pre-production plastic pellets: environmental impacts and response challenges
- Inês Costa – If AI robots can run factories, why are we only using it for paperwork?
- Hon Phui Hang – Aerial dispersant operations: lessons from Thailand
- Dion Soyza – Spill resilience for small island developing states
On the second day of SpillAsia (September 24), OSRL will also co-host an industry forum with Ipieca and IOGP, featuring speakers from OSRL, Chevron, Shell, IMO, GI SEA, and the Malaysia Marine Department. Discussions will explore source control and emergency response, stakeholder engagement across Southeast Asia, and shared challenges shaping preparedness and resilience across the Asia-Pacific region.
Delegates and media are invited to meet OSRL at Stand B28, alongside shared space with Ipieca and IOGP, where they can speak directly with the team’s technical experts and see the new capability up close for the first time.
