The US Coast Guard has awarded Saildrone a $15.5 million order to provide continuous maritime domain awareness in the Northeast and Great Lakes regions.
Under the terms of the contract, Saildrone will deploy a total of 16 Voyager unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) across both regions to monitor and protect United States fishing areas as well as cross-border vessel activity and border security. Operations will begin this spring.
“The expansion of our US Coast Guard partnership into the Great Lakes and Northeast regions acknowledges the value we have delivered to the service while providing persistent, scalable maritime domain awareness in prior missions,” said Saildrone President and retired US Navy Vice Adm. John Mustin. “The Coast Guard appreciates the unique attributes Saildrone brings to bear unparalleled range and endurance, industry-leading autonomy, and over 2.5 million miles of real-world mission experience. A 16 Voyager fleet creates a persistent maritime intelligence layer across these expansive waters, amplifying Coast Guard effectiveness in identifying threats in real time and enabling focused, high-impact interdiction.”
