Dong Fang Offshore (DFO) announces that the “Chunghwa Telecom Taiwan–Penghu–Kinmen–Matsu No. 4 Submarine Cable Project,” where DFO serves as main contractor, has reached a key milestone. The submarine cable and installation vessel have arrived in Taiwan as scheduled, with construction set to begin shortly.
Despite geopolitical and supply chain challenges, DFO ensured timely delivery and mobilization through robust project management. Installation will commence in April, targeting completion in Q3, highlighting DFO’s ability to execute complex, mission-critical infrastructure supporting national connectivity.
This flagship project, led by Chunghwa Telecom, is the first large-scale domestic EPCI submarine cable initiative. Upon completion, it will enhance network stability, resilience, and connectivity between Taiwan’s main island and offshore islands.
As AI, cloud computing, 5G, and data-intensive applications drive global data demand, submarine cables are increasingly strategic. DFO’s expertise and integrated fleet position the company to enhance its competitive edge in subsea infrastructure and capitalize on long-term growth opportunities across both regional and global markets.
