Simwave B.V. and Kongsberg Digital have successfully completed the Site Acceptance Test (SAT) of one of the largest, most advanced maritime simulation suites ever delivered. The successful SAT, which took place on Friday, 19th January, means that the brand new Simwave Maritime Center of Excellence in Barendrecht, Rotterdam is now fully operational.

Transas has launched its first package of applications built on THESIS, a unified cloud-based platform for managing operations across the full breadth of the maritime ecosystem. The advanced ‘A-Suite’ package also sets a new precedent by utilising the latest in machine learning techniques to reduce the potential for human errors on the bridge or poor decisions elsewhere in the vessel operational chain.

On Thursday, January 18, Albwardy Damen in Sharjah hosted a naming ceremony for the world’s biggest Rotortug®, the ART 100-46 RT Raven. The vessel will be operated by Perth-based KT Maritime Services Australia Pty Ltd, a joint venture partnership between Kotug International B.V and Teekay Shipping Australia Pty Ltd.

Leading towage and salvage specialist Multraship has taken delivery of the first of two game-changing CARROUSEL RAVE TUGs (CRT) which will make it easier, safer and more environmentally friendly to work with seagoing vessels at much higher speeds than conventional tugs can safely achieve, and without the risk of capsizing under a tow-load.

Ecolock is designed to protect offshore units for decades without the need for drydocking. Increasingly, floating production units such as FPSOs, FSOs, FLRSUs and others used for offshore oil and gas exploration, drilling, storage and transport need to stay out of drydock for 15, 25 even 40 years.

Damen Shiprepair Oranjewerf (Oranjewerf) has completed final outfitting and modifications on a second subsea-support walk-to-work (W2W) vessel for Vroon Offshore Services (VOS). VOS Stone was built at Fujian Southeast Shipbuilding in China before coming to the Netherlands for completion. This follows a similar project successfully completed in July this year at Oranjewerf, involving sister ship VOS Start.
