Ad Hoc Marine Designs is championing the feasibility of its Typhoon Class Swath design as the best suited windfarm vessel to meet significant wave height requirements for future rounds of offshore windfarms.

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has won new davit orders from Spanish shipyard Astilleros Zamakona. They are destined for a service operation vessel (SOV) owned by the Danish company Esvagt AS. The contract includes an order for one of MacGregor's largest davit systems, specially-designed to ensure safe transfers in rough weather. Equipment deliveries are scheduled for November 2018 and the order was booked in Cargotec's fourth quarter 2017 order intake.

Gibdock has extended its impressive track record in the offshore vessel sector, following the visit of the 5700dwt 3D seismic survey vessel Polar Marquis, operated by Norwegian company GC Rieber Shipping. The Bergen-based offshore shipping specialist is a repeat customer for Gibdock, having docked several vessels for repair and renewal in the past.

On 19th December in Southampton, Laurence Dagley, Director CEMEX UK Marine Limited signed a contract with Frank de Lange, Regional Sales Director of the Damen Shipyards Group for the delivery of the first Damen Marine Aggregate Dredger (MAD). The vessel, which will be built at Damen Shipyards Galati, in Romania, is designed to extract sand and gravel from the sea bed up to depths of 55 meters, including in the challenging conditions experienced in the North Sea.

Phoenix International Holdings, Inc. (Phoenix) recently completed a seachest cleaning and hull inspection for the M/V Sanco Star. While performing these tasks, divers also inspected running gear of the vessel and reported to the client that both propellers were covered in hard marine growth.

The technology group Wärtsilä has agreed to retrofit the world’s first energy storage solution on board a large offshore supply vessel. The North Sea Giant, one of the world’s largest and most advanced subsea construction vessels, will be fitted with an energy storage system that reduces the vessel’s energy consumption, operating costs and exhaust emissions.

The Icemann gangway system has reached a milestone of 10,000 transfers since its arrival in Eastern Russia in August to transfer personnel working on offshore platforms under the Sakhalin-2 project. Developed by Ampelmann, the global leader in offshore access solutions, it is currently the only gangway system of its kind able to operate in remote and extreme cold climate.
