A benchmark installation of three energy storage systems by the technology group Wärtsilä onboard an offshore construction vessel features, for the first time ever, energy and load sharing capability. The system combines a diesel-electric configuration with batteries, and is designed to deliver impressive fuel savings for the ship of as much as 50 percent, given optimal operating conditions.

Damen Shipyards Group and Homeland Integrated Offshore Services of Lagos have signed a contract in Singapore for the delivery of two additional Damen 3307 Patrol Vessels. This further increases the total number of these vessels in the Homeland fleet with the first ordered in 2014 and the most recent deliveries being three vessels over the course of 2018.

Wärtsilä has successfully completed the installation and operational staff training for its Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) solution in the ports of Lisbon and Setúbal / Sesimbra in Portugal. The systems will increase the efficiency of these ports by reducing waiting time for vessels and allowing just-in-time pilotage. The state-of-the-art solution has been developed and supplied by Transas, a Wärtsilä company. The project was booked in July 2018 and completed in January 2019.

By adding new technology and features and integrating them with the navigation systems on the bridge, RH Marine enables naval vessels to navigate more and more accurately. This allows them to better fix their position, better detect other objects and become less dependent on GPS.

On March 4th at Damen Shipyards Singapore, Seaways International took delivery of two Damen Fast Crew Suppliers (FCS) 2206. The Dubai-headquartered company has previously operated a Damen FCS 3307. Seaways International specializes in offshore marine services and will use the new vessels to transport crew to offshore energy locations in West Africa.

Ten affiliates of Total Exploration & Production in Western Africa, North Sea, South America, Asia and the Middle East have deployed MarineLog to optimize their offshore logistics operations by reducing their costs and increasing their productivity. The service cost is more than covered by the savings generated. Two other Oil Majors are also working with the company.
