Flicq Inc. an innovator in the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) solutions announces that it has cooperated with Damen Shipyards in remote monitoring. The project has involved mapping smart sensor data from many sources to have a uniform view of a vessel’s health. Additionally, Flicq sensors have been deployed on Damen connected vessels.

Techstars, a worldwide network that helps entrepreneurs succeed, and Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS), a world leading ship management company, announces they are jointly launching the world’s first global MaritimeTech accelerator, the EPS MaritimeTech Accelerator Powered by Techstars. Based in Singapore, this new mentorship-driven accelerator program will be Techstars second accelerator in the sovereign city-state.

For more than 20 years, numerous digital chart producers (Hydrographic Offices, Waterway Authorities, and other organizations) have used SevenCs validation tools for quality control and quality assessment of digital charts such as ENCs, IENCs, and AMLs against the relevant standards.

The arrival of 2019 leaves just one year until the global sulphur cap becomes reality. But as the marine industry scrambles to ready itself, an important milestone has already been reached. The new year marks a decade since the first vessel set sail with an Alfa Laval PureSOx scrubber on board.

The technology group Wärtsilä will provide the ship design, as well as the main engine and other propulsion equipment, for a new state-of-the-art fishing vessel. The ship will be built at the Balenciaga shipyard in Spain for Castlehill, the Fraserburgh, Scotland based owners. The order with Wärtsilä was booked in November 2018.

Recently the Jose Duarte started its first mining job in Lisbon. The trailing suction hopper dredger has been built in Portugal for a Portuguese dredging company, to a Spanish design and using Dutch dredging equipment. The European cooperation has resulted in a customized dredger performing above expectations on her first job.
