Classification society DNV GL has presented China Merchants Heavy Industry (CMHI) with Approval in Principle (AiP) certificates for two new offshore units: an arctic single column drilling unit and a wind turbine shuttle. The certificates confirm that DNV GL has assessed each of the two designs according to class rules and found no significant obstacles exist to prevent the concept from being realized.

The National Oceanography Centre’s anyTide app now includes free comprehensive tide information for over 1000 coastal points worldwide. Available on both iOS and Android, the app provides instant free access to tide data across the globe, and tide and current data for the whole of the UK coast.

Unveiled at Ocean Business this week, Kongsberg Maritime reports that it has already signed a contract for delivery of a state-of-the-art Sounder USV System, for TASA, the largest fishing company in Peru.
