Danelec, a GTT Group company and global leader in maritime data solutions, has unveiled the DM100 VDR G3, the next generation of its Voyage Data Recorder platform.
Building on more than 20 years of reliability and a significant installation footprint across the global merchant fleet, the DM100 VDR G3 is engineered for current and future operational, regulatory and smart-shipping demands.
As safety, compliance and transparency expectations rise, and as data volumes from modern bridge and engine systems grow, shipowners need resilient systems that keep vessels compliant while unlocking operational insight. DM100 VDR G3 responds with upgraded robustness, smarter diagnostics and cloud-ready connectivity to support fleet-wide business continuity.
“Far more than a regulatory device, VDRs are today becoming a central source of operational intelligence,” said Christian Kock, EVP Safety at Danelec. “With the DM100 VDR G3 we have combined the resilience needed for safety-critical performance with advanced connectivity, diagnostics and modular architecture. This allows owners not only to stay compliant under today’s demanding standards, but also to prepare for the challenges of tomorrow, where cybersecurity, AI and data transparency will play an even greater role in safe and efficient vessel operations.”
What’s new in DM100 VDR G3
- Improved robustness & uptime: redesigned internal architecture to reduce single points of failure; expanded battery capacity; new microphone options; upgraded Bridge Control Panel.
- Future-proof data capture: advanced Data Acquisition Unit and modular storage sized for high-bandwidth inputs (e.g., S-100 ECDIS overlays, 4K radar, continuous multi-sensor streams).
- Smart compliance by design: automated self-tests, built-in diagnostics, and seamless integration with Danelec Safety Insights and the Danelec Service App for early issue detection and faster resolution.
- Cloud-ready operations: connectivity via the Vessel Remote Server (VRS) enabling remote diagnostics, proactive maintenance planning, remote Operational Performance Testing (OPT) and secure shore access to up to 30 days of recorded VDR data.
- Serviceability: software-controlled power circuit prepared for safe remote power-down to enable full battery testing.
Engineered for real-world installations
Fully redesigned for modern and future shipping, DM100 VDR G3 addresses complex layouts and compliance needs across all vessel types, from cruise ships with dual bridge configurations and fiber optic connectivity, to offshore, commercial and naval vessels operating in demanding environments. The new platform draws on decades of operational experience, including insights from Danelec’s integration of MacGregor’s VDR business.
Support and availability
DM100 VDR G3 is backed by Danelec’s global service partner network, strategically stocked spares and SWAP technology for rapid replacement. A three-year warranty and lifecycle support through 2040 provide long-term confidence in performance and compliance. The launch also underscores Danelec’s commitment to advancing maritime safety and efficiency through innovation. As part of the GTT Group, Danelec remains fully invested in long-term product development across its portfolio, which includes Kyma Power Meters and advanced data collection and vessel performance systems.
