Advancing their Fully Autonomous Ship Project MEGURI2040, Furuno Electric Company will participate in the Joint Technological Development Program for the Demonstration of Fully Autonomous Ships (DFFAS) administered by the Nippon Foundation. Furuno electronics aboard the autonomous vessels include the FAR3000 Chart Radar, FMD3200 ECDIS, FA170 AIS, GP170 GPS Navigator, and FE800 IMO Echo Sounder, all routed through an Action Planning Unit (APU) to process navigation actions in response to input sensor data.

On 12 September 2023, Damen Shipyards Galati in Romania held a launching ceremony for the PNS Hunain, one of a series of Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPV) 2600 that Damen is constructing for the Pakistan Navy. Damen was awarded the contract to build the vessel, following its successful delivery of the first two vessels, PNS Yarmook and PNS Tabuk in 2020.

Following on from completing the lowering of a UK section of a key UK-Europe fiber optic link, Subsea jet trenching and excavation leader, Rotech Subsea, has now delivered cable trenching operations on the same cable offshore Belgium. Rotech’s sector leading controlled flow excavation (CFE) shallow water jet trencher - the TRS1 LD - was mobilized to complete the trenching works on the 10km section of cable.

ZEMBA has launched a Request for Proposals (RfP) for 600,000 twenty-foot containers (TEUs) over a three-year period on ocean vessels powered by zero-emission fuels. Through this tender, ZEMBA will help its member companies reduce nearly 1 million metric tonnes of carbon emissions, equivalent to taking 215,000 cars off the road.

Global maritime and logistics leaders Crowley and SEACOR Holdings (“SEACOR”), through its subsidiary Seabulk Tankers, Inc. (“Seabulk”), announces an agreement to form a joint venture that will integrate their liquid energy and chemical transportation vessels, operations and related services into a new, independent U.S. Jones Act service provider, Fairwater Holdings LLC (“Fairwater”).
