Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) awarded the first two local supply agreements for offshore wind projects in Taiwan in ceremonies in Taipei. Firstly, Swancor will supply resin used in the blades slated for the Formosa 1 Phase 2 offshore wind power plant. Secondly, the newly-formed partnership between CS Wind and Chin Fong will supply 100%-localized towers to meet the localization requirement on wpd’s Yunlin offshore wind power project in 2021.

Ørsted has entered into an agreement with the D.E. Shaw Group to acquire a 100% equity interest in Rhode Island-based Deepwater Wind at a purchase price of USD 510 million. The two companies’ offshore wind assets and organizations will be merged into the leading US offshore wind platform with the most comprehensive geographic coverage and the largest pipeline of development capacity.

The high-voltage cable system from NKT is now ready to transmit renewable energy from the Rentel offshore wind farm to the Belgian power grid. When in operation the offshore wind farm will provide green energy to 300,000 households supporting the national target of 13 % of the power consumption to be covered by renewable energy by 2020. For NKT the turnkey project has been successfully executed after great collaboration with Rentel NV.

O&M managers need to more actively and closely monitor the health of turbine blades at newer wind farms under five years of age, with the average of 7 repairs required per turbine significantly exceeding that of the 2.2 repairs for older wind farms. This is according to leading blade repair and inspection specialist Altitec, which has launched its 2018 Blade Repair Atlas, which provides a detailed breakdown of its operations across the UK, Europe and further afield.
