Acteon Joins DNV’s Ground Investigation for Floating Offshore Wind (GIFT) Project

Acteon’s Geo-services business line is now actively participating in DNV’s Joint Industry Project (JIP) on ground investigations for offshore wind turbines.

This initiative, known as the Ground Investigation for Floating Wind (GIFT) project, aims to develop a recommended practice for ground characterization, essential for the reliable design and installation of offshore wind turbines.

PROJECT OVERVIEW:

  • Objective: Develop a recommended practice for ground characterization.
  • Participants: Over 15 industry partners, including academic institutions and regulatory authorities.
  • Approach: Utilize a practical environmental class approach to optimize site soil characterization.
  • Our role and contribution: By collaborating with industry leaders, we are contributing our expertise to develop solutions that support a more sustainable and resilient energy future.

“We are excited to join forces with DNV and other industry leaders in this important project. Collaborating with other developers, designers, contractors, and academia allows us to combine our expertise in ground characterization. It will enhance the reliability and efficiency of offshore wind turbine installations, accelerating the shift to sustainable energy” says Paul Smith, Executive Vice President of Geo-services at Acteon.
