Trelleborg Fenders Aid SEAOIL to Fuel a More Sustainable Future in the Philippines

Trelleborg’s marine and infrastructure operation has extended its 8-year relationship with SEAOIL Philippines with the supply of its Super Cone (SCN1100) fenders to the SEAOIL Sta. Cruz Bulk Terminal in Sta Cruz, Davao Del Sur, Philippines.

After utilizing Super Cone fenders for almost a decade, SEAOIL Philippines, the leading independent fuel company in the Philippines, turned to Trelleborg once more for a customized solution that would successfully facilitate the berthing of varying sizes of tanker vessels, even in the region’s harshest environmental conditions. This comes as the company looks to increase its terminal depot and in turn, the volume of sustainable fuel it can supply to Filipino communities.

Stephen Yu, COO and president of Commercial Business of SEAOIL Philippines said: “Our aim is to continue to fuel a better future by providing world-class fuels to those that need it most across the country. Following the formation of a strategic partnership in 2018 with the Australian transport fuel company, Ampol, we embarked on an ambitious growth strategy, which aims to double our retail network and terminal storage capacity over the next five years.”

SEAOIL is expanding the volume capacity of its import terminal in Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur to further distribute fuels to more underserved communities in the region.  This demanded the upgrade of the terminal’s fender systems to accommodate varying sizes of tanker vessels.

“Trelleborg is a partner that we have long trusted. Therefore, we had no hesitation in turning to them once again. The level of service provided by the team is second to none. What’s more, they were able to supply the latest generation of their high-performance Super Cone fender systems on time and on budget - as they have done for the last 10 years and counting.”

Richard Hepworth, President at Trelleborg’s marine and infrastructure operation, said: “At Trelleborg, our solutions protect marine environments, infrastructure, vessels and people across the globe. We are driven to deliver optimal operational efficiency and support sustainable gains for ports and terminals. Therefore, we’re delighted to further extend our working relationship with SEAOIL, a company that shares our commitment to sustainability. By increasing the availability of advanced and environmentally friendly fuel, it is changing the lives of people across the Philippines for the better.

“Trelleborg has provided SEAOIL with customized berthing solutions for the import terminals for fuel and lubricant all over the Philippines for the last 8 years, working closely with their designers and engineers. Our long-standing relationship with SEAOIL is testament to our track record of powering progressive performance, providing support and solutions that will stand the test of time and guarantee performance.”

Suitable for use across a variety of cargo berths, oil and LNG facilities, as well as container berths, Trelleborg’s Super Cone fenders combine performance and efficiency. Boasting significant shear strength, the fenders are very stable at large compression angles due to their conical body shape while their overload stops make them highly resistant to over-compression.
