Viewport3, an Aberdeenshire-based leader in high-resolution underwater 3D scanning and photogrammetry, is scaling up its operations in 2025 with strategic expansions in personnel, infrastructure, and its groundbreaking ZECO (Zero-Compromise) camera system.
New Team Appointment
Paul McMillan has joined Viewport3 as a full-time Development Engineer, having previously supported the ZECO project as a subcontractor. With his expertise in electronics, system integration, and testing, Paul is poised to accelerate ZECO's move into commercial manufacturing.
Expanded Facilities
To support its growing operations, Viewport3 has relocated across the car park to larger premises at West Pitmillan Business Centre, Foveran. The new office and workshop now offer dedicated spaces for team collaboration and housing of high-performance computing and offshore equipment.
ZECO Commercial Readiness
Following successful field trials, Viewport3 is now entering the next phase of the ZECO ROV-deployable underwater camera system. Upgrades are underway for fleet production, extended testing, and internal systems to support scale. ZECO—which delivers unmatched subsea inspection capabilities—is being readied for a full commercial launch. The company is also engaging with funding partners to accelerate market access.
Why It Matters
The 60MP ZECO camera offers capabilities beyond current subsea imaging systems, enabling operators to reduce vessel time, enhance digital documentation of assets, retrieve image data at ethernet speeds and significantly lower the carbon footprint of inspection campaigns—a leap forward in efficiency and environmental performance.
Richard Drennan, Director at Viewport3, shared: “Having someone who already knows our ZECO platform and shares our vision will help accelerate our progress as we move into commercial manufacturing.”
Lynn Park, Business Manager, added: “The new setup gives us the space to build, test and scale – and importantly, room for the team to collaborate and grow.”
