GIEK’s mission is to promote Norwegian exports – and it is doing that big time in the offshore wind market both in Europe and further afield. Having reached around NOK 4bn in June, its latest NOK 3.6bn (GBP 300m) risk-sharing splash supports supply contracts for Norwegian companies Aibel and OHT Alfa Lift AS to the Dogger Bank mega-project in the North Sea.  

This week a Cutter Suction Dredger (CSD) 650 has been launched at Albwardy Damen. This modularly built dredger is the first CSD650 to be built at this yard. Usually, the yard is active in ship repair including dry dockings as well as newbuilds of other vessel types. It also is the Damen Service Hub in the region offering local after-sales support.

The ACMA Chairman Alasdair Wilkie (Digicel) said: “I am very pleased that it has been possible to agree terms and conditions with the Agreement cable ship suppliers and to ensure that the ACMA region will continue to receive a high level of maintenance cover with the Agreement’s dedicated repair vessels.

Constructing FPSO and FLNG modules onshore has allowed EPCs and owners to expedite project schedules and increase cost-effectiveness. By constructing the hull and topsides simultaneously and at greater scale, the time to first production has been reduced. As these components grow, their efficiency rises – but so does the challenge of their integration.

Ørsted announced its intention to develop South Korean offshore wind projects with a potential capacity of up to 1.6GW off the coast of Incheon City. The announcement was made at an event joined by National Assembly members, South Korea's Energy Agency, and key industry leaders with offshore wind track records in South Korea's supply chain.
