In 2018, at the time of acquiring Norway-based lifeboat, davit and hook maker Norsafe, VIKING Life-Saving Equipment already boasted the world’s strongest range of safety equipment, solutions and services to the offshore industry. Now, that range has evolved to encompass a truly comprehensive spectrum of safety solutions that brings new advantages to even the largest, most sophisticated offshore operators.

ExxonMobil says it has funded the Liza Phase 2 development offshore Guyana after it received government and regulatory approvals. Liza Phase 2 will produce up to 220,000 barrels of oil per day and further capitalize on the significant development potential of the Stabroek Block, where ExxonMobil estimates producing more than 750,000 barrels of oil per day by 2025.

Teledyne RD Instruments (TRDI) announces the launch of its new next-generation Doppler Velocity Log (DVL), the Tasman DVL. In 1995, Teledyne RDI designed and manufactured the industry’s first DVL, the Workhorse Navigator. The Navigator remains the gold standard, with thousands of units delivered globally to provide precision, onboard navigation for subsea and surface vehicles.

Dutch offshore access provider Ampelmann has secured a contract with marine transportation company Harvey Gulf from its local office in Houston, Texas. The company will perform maintenance work at an Oil and Gas (O&G) platform in the Gulf of Mexico. An A-type system has been mobilized on the Harvey Blue Sea vessel and will operate for 120 days.

The application process for the International Marine Contractors Association’s (IMCA) DP Practitioner Accreditation Scheme opens today (1 May 2019). The launch sees additional support documentation added to the IMCA website and the first dates announced for examinations with further dates to follow.

On 2nd May, 2019 Damen Shipyards Group signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Askeri Fabrika ve Tersane İşletme AŞ (ASFAT) for collaboration in the production of marine platforms. The MOU signing took place at the 14th International Defence Industry Fair (IDEF) taking place in Istanbul April 30th – May 3rd.

Canyon Offshore, Inc., the Robotics division of Helix Energy Solutions Group, Inc., has entered into an agreement with Otto Candies L.L.C for the charter of the Jones Act-compliant Inspection, Maintenance and Repair (IMR) vessel Ross Candies.

LLOG Exploration Offshore, LLC. and Repsol E&P USA Inc., have announced the signing of an Asset Exchange and Joint Participation Agreement in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico. The agreement provides for the drilling of a delineation well at Repsol’s Leon discovery and covers Keathley Canyon blocks 642, 643, 686 and 687. In addition, Repsol will acquire an interest in the LLOG-operated discovery Moccasin in Keathley Canyon 736.
