Saipem has been awarded two EPIC contracts (Engineering, Procurement, Installation, Construction) assigned by the client Saudi Aramco for a total amount of approximately 1,3 billion USD as part of the Long Term Agreement for offshore activities in Saudi Arabia, renewed in 2015 and in force until 2021.

WSA Koblenz (WasserSchiffahrtsAmbt) has awarded Damen Shipyards Group a contract to build a new diving bell ship. The ship will succeed an existing vessel – the Carl Straat, which has been in operation since 1963. The new vessel, like her predecessor, will operate in the River Rhine and its tributaries.

On 23 January 2019, the United States recognized Juan Guaido as the new interim President of Venezuela. This aligned with statements from the U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo that Nicolas Maduro is no longer the legitimate President of Venezuela. Two days later, the Trump Administration announced sanctions against that nation’s state-owned oil and natural gas company (PdVSA).

In November 2018, Vår Energi (formerly Eni Norge) and Simon Møkster Shipping signed an agreement to upgrade the supply vessel Stril Barents in order to reduce CO2 emissions. The upgrade involves the installation of shore power connection, combined with a new battery solution for energy storage on board.

The technology group Wärtsilä will provide the ship design, as well as the main engine and other propulsion equipment, for a new state-of-the-art fishing vessel. The ship will be built at the Balenciaga shipyard in Spain for Castlehill, the Fraserburgh, Scotland based owners. The order with Wärtsilä was booked in November 2018.
