Pukyong National University (PKNU) has chosen GE’s Power Conversion business to provide the SeaStream Dynamic Positioning (DP) system for their training vessel for fisheries industry training. GE’s SeaStream DP will enable the ship to perform operations – for example controlling horizontal movement or holding position against harsh wind and in choppy waters – with stability, safety and precision for a long time.

The Commonwealth of Australia Department of Defense has awarded Phoenix International (Australia) Pty Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Phoenix International Holdings, Inc., a contract for a Submarine Rescue Service (SRS) to include the acquisition and support of the SEA1354 Ph 1 Submarine Escape, Rescue, and Abandonment System (SERAS).

Caterpillar Marine announces the development of new technology solutions for European Union (EU) inland waterway (IWW) vessels. The new solutions are designed to comply with the next generation of regulatory emissions required for EU IWW applications and will be available starting in 2020 for various power ranges: for engines with less than 130 bkW, 130 to 300 bkW, and 300 to 1350 bkW.

Dutch offshore access provider Ampelmann has secured its first contract in Mexico, adding a new region to its global portfolio. An A-type system has been mobilized on a flotel and will operate for two months, enabling the installation of an oil and gas platform.

Ten affiliates of Total Exploration & Production in Western Africa, North Sea, South America, Asia and the Middle East have deployed MarineLog to optimize their offshore logistics operations by reducing their costs and increasing their productivity. The service cost is more than covered by the savings generated. Two other Oil Majors are also working with the company.

Stena Bulk has now had a fleet of 13 IMOIIMAX vessels of MR model on the market for a year, and an evaluation shows that the chemical vessels have been a success, both in terms of performance and business. An IMOIIMAX tanker has 18 separate tanks (3,000 m3/tank), which provides for large freedom of choice as regards combinations of cargoes. The IMOIIMAX vessels are also characterized by high safety and low fuel consumption.

Kraken Robotics Inc.
