Global Maritime Services Ltd. (GMS) has launched its new Marine Department, a marine advisory service for the offshore oil and gas sector. Ecochlor is launching a containerized version of the EcoOne® filterless ballast water management system (BWMS). The EcoOne® Container Unit is well suited for Semi-Submersible Rigs, Jack-Up Rigs, Drillships, FPSOs, FSRUs and other vessels with infrequent ballasting operations at medium to high flow rates.

“The EcoOne® Container Unit offers incredible benefits to Mobile Offshore Drilling Units (MODU),” said Andrew Marshall, Ecochlor CEO. “One system can simultaneously serve up to four separate sea chests or quadrants, in the case of the semi-submersible rigs. It also allows for gravity ballasting on uptake and discharge, and has very low power requirements. Plus, a single unit can be easily shared between multiple rigs and/or vessels. This is a great break-through for the offshore market as they have faced difficulty complying with the BWM Convention due to a lack of systems that work reliably and cost-effectively for their unique needs.”

The EcoOne® Container Unit has a small footprint and does not require filters. Installation requirements below deck and in the pontoons are minimal with only one-way, 1”/DN25 piping. Additionally, the container can be removed while the MODU is stationary, saving valuable deck space.

Drilling of high-impact oil and gas prospects is set to rebound this year after a disappointing 2021, when success rates plunged towards record lows, Rystad Energy research shows. These critical wells have found hydrocarbons 47% of the time so far this year, up from a measly 28% for 2021. With more than four months still to go in 2022, discovered volumes from high-impact wells have nearly quadrupled to over 1.7 billion barrels of oil equivalent (boe) – a positive sign for global hydrocarbon supply.

Trendsetter Engineering, Inc. is pleased to announce a contract award by Well‐Safe to utilize the Trident Intervention System and technical services for UK North Sea Abandonments. The system will be deployed from the Well‐Safe Guardian rig to conduct a multi‐well P&A campaign for an estimated 320‐day duration.

Facing an energy supply gap due to rapid decline of traditional fossil fuel sources and fast, but not fast enough, growth of renewable energy sources, Huisman has arrived at a solution. The company’s Harsh Environment Semi-Submersible Drilling Rig is aimed at making the extraction of fossil fuels as sustainable as possible while we make the transition to renewable energy.

Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy is praising the announcement by Santos and Repsol to move forward with Phase 1 of the Pikka project on Alaska’s North Slope. Located in the Nanushuk oil formation on state leases, the Pikka unit contains an estimated 768 million barrels of recoverable oil. Oil Search will invest $2.6 billion to bring the field into production by 2026 which will create 2,600 jobs during construction, and 500 jobs once oil production begins.
