On Thursday, January 18, Albwardy Damen in Sharjah hosted a naming ceremony for the world’s biggest Rotortug®, the ART 100-46 RT Raven. The vessel will be operated by Perth-based KT Maritime Services Australia Pty Ltd, a joint venture partnership between Kotug International B.V and Teekay Shipping Australia Pty Ltd.

On 19th December in Southampton, Laurence Dagley, Director CEMEX UK Marine Limited signed a contract with Frank de Lange, Regional Sales Director of the Damen Shipyards Group for the delivery of the first Damen Marine Aggregate Dredger (MAD). The vessel, which will be built at Damen Shipyards Galati, in Romania, is designed to extract sand and gravel from the sea bed up to depths of 55 meters, including in the challenging conditions experienced in the North Sea.

Crowley Fuels LLC announces that it has signed a construction contract with Bollinger Shipyards to build a new Alaska Class 100,000-barrel-capacity articulated tug-barge (ATB) to transport multiple clean petroleum products in the Alaska market.

The technology group Wärtsilä has agreed to retrofit the world’s first energy storage solution on board a large offshore supply vessel. The North Sea Giant, one of the world’s largest and most advanced subsea construction vessels, will be fitted with an energy storage system that reduces the vessel’s energy consumption, operating costs and exhaust emissions.

Damen Shiprepair Oranjewerf (Oranjewerf) has completed final outfitting and modifications on a second subsea-support walk-to-work (W2W) vessel for Vroon Offshore Services (VOS). VOS Stone was built at Fujian Southeast Shipbuilding in China before coming to the Netherlands for completion. This follows a similar project successfully completed in July this year at Oranjewerf, involving sister ship VOS Start.

Gibdock has extended its impressive track record in the offshore vessel sector, following the visit of the 5700dwt 3D seismic survey vessel Polar Marquis, operated by Norwegian company GC Rieber Shipping. The Bergen-based offshore shipping specialist is a repeat customer for Gibdock, having docked several vessels for repair and renewal in the past.
