Maersk Supply Service will in the coming months provide marine support to The Ocean Cleanup, the Dutch non-profit that is developing advanced technologies to rid the oceans from plastic, and install their first cleanup system in the North Pacific. Damen Marine Components has won a contract to supply steering gear, rudders and stern tube parts for an Antarctic Research vessel of the Chilean Navy, under LRS -Polar 5 Class notation. The contract was awarded by ASMAR Talcahuano Shipyard, Chile. Design of the vessel was done in collaboration with VARD Canada.

Damen Shiprepair Harlingen (DSHL) has completed maintenance and repair works on the Fugro Mercator, a twin-hulled survey vessel operated by Fugro.

A team of Hydrex diving/welding technicians was recently mobilized to Dakar, where a 225m drill ship needed urgent repair. The vessel’s transit flap had become loose and started swinging dangerously. This had caused damage to the aft bulkhead and a leak in a ballast tank, situated aft of the moonpool.

On July 24, Damen Shipyards Group signed a contract with Cyprus-based VTS Vasiliko Terminal Services, the supplier of marine services to the Port of Vasiliko and the VTTV Oil Terminal Jetty, for a Damen ASD Tug 2310.

Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M) has through its wholly-owned subsidiaries secured two contracts with a combined value of about S$70 million.

At the end of June, Damen Shipyards Group along with Ampelmann and VEEM hosted a Marine Access Event. Over two days, delegates from both the offshore renewable and non-renewable industries had the opportunity to sail from IJmuiden in the Netherlands to experience the latest in marine access solutions. The demonstrations took place on board a Damen Fast Crew Supplier 5009 equipped with an Ampelmann L-type gangway and two VEEM VG 260SD gyro stabilisers.
