SubCableWorld (SCW) a leading news and information service for the submarine cable industry, has completed an analysis of US offshore wind cable demand for a 10-year period from 2019 through 2028. As there are still many variables in the US offshore wind market, SubCableWorld generated three scenarios to model demand for offshore wind cable. These suggested demand, ranging from 6,500 kilometers to 12,000 kilometers of cable to be contracted for by 2028.

BP has agreed to sell its interests in Gulf of Suez oil concessions in Egypt to Dragon Oil, the Dubai-based oil and gas company. Under the terms of the agreement, Dragon Oil will purchase producing and exploration concessions, including BP’s interest in the Gulf of Suez Petroleum Company (GUPCO). Dragon Oil is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC).

Eni has made the fifth oil discovery in one year in Block 15/06, in Angola’s deep offshore. The well has been drilled on the Agidigbo exploration prospect, and analysis of post drill results indicate between 300 and 400 million barrels of light oil in place.

Classification society DNV GL has signed a contract for the first Cyber Secure class notation with Stena Drilling. The contract covers the application of the “Basic+” notation to the drillship Stena IceMAX and includes the vessel’s dynamic positioning, drilling, and blowout prevention systems. It will be integrated with Stena Drilling’s own safety management systems.

Sentinel Midstream, LLC, through its subsidiary Texas GulfLink, LLC, has announced that on May 30, it submitted a license application with the U.S. Maritime Administration (MARAD) to construct and operate a deepwater crude oil export facility. The port will be located off the coast of Freeport, Texas, and will be capable of fully loading Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) vessels.

Kongsberg Maritime has unveiled a new series of tunnel thrusters designed to meet demand from the merchant marine sector for a system that is less complex to install, easier to maintain, and more cost-effective to operate than existing thrusters of comparable size.
