The coronavirus does not stop Helsinki's climate work. The schedule for the international Helsinki Energy Challenge has been altered due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the competition process remains intact despite the changes in the schedule.

Fiber optic cables, it turns out, can be incredibly useful scientific sensors. Researchers at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab) have studied them for use in carbon sequestration, groundwater mapping, earthquake detection, and monitoring of Arctic permafrost thaw. Now they have been awarded new grants to develop fiber optics for two novel uses: monitoring offshore wind operations and underground natural gas storage.

Oceaneering International Services Ltd (OISL), a subsidiary of Oceaneering International, Inc. (Oceaneering), has been awarded a contract from Moray Offshore Windfarm (East) Limited (MOWEL) to complete seabed route and debris clearance for the Moray East Wind Farm project in the Moray Firth, Scotland.
