North East England’s offshore wind industry and the opportunities open to UK companies from significant upcoming wind farm developments will be the focus of a major event taking place in the region in November.

Sustainable Marine Energy (SME) and Minas Tidal LP (MTLP) have agreed to co-develop their adjacent berths at the Fundy Ocean Research Center for Energy (FORCE) and will utilize SME’s PLAT-I floating in-stream tidal energy technology to deliver up to 9MW of tidal energy to the Nova Scotia grid.

Akselos SA and a consortium of partners led by Principle Power Inc. have been awarded $3.6 million in funding from the US Department of Energy’s Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E). The funding will be used to develop, validate, and operate the world’s first digital twin software on the WindFloat Atlantic (WFA) Project, which will be one of the world’s only existing floating offshore wind farms.
