Kraken Robotics Inc., Canada’s Ocean Company, has signed a R&D contract with a global energy company which will provide $8 million of cash funding to Kraken’s Brazilian subsidiary over a 3-year period. Under this project, Kraken will continue development of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning software, and subsea autonomy solutions to intelligently analyze sensor data and learn how to respond to highly dynamic environments in the offshore oil and gas, wind, hydrographic, science, and defense industries. Due to customer confidentiality, further details cannot be released at this time.

Equinor has signed a strategic collaboration with Hitachi Energy, to collaborate within electrification, renewable power generation and low-carbon initiatives worldwide. The agreement underlines both companies’ commitment to accelerate the energy transition and advance a more sustainable, flexible and secure energy system.

Subsea geo-information specialist TrueOcean GmbH has launched a new digital platform which accelerates the transformation of marine data acquired by diverse underwater sensors, including multibeam echosounders and related systems from any manufacturer, into actionable, easily shared information and insight via the cloud.

8 Rivers Capital, LLC (8 Rivers), a world-leading net zero solutions provider, and JX Nippon Oil & Gas Exploration Corporation (Toshiya Nakahara, President and CEO), JX Nippon Oil Exploration (U.S.A.) Limited (Manabu Doi, President) (collectively “JX”), have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to evaluate the U.S. Gulf Coast for the commercial-scale deployment of 8 Rivers technologies across ammonia and other net-zero projects, including potential projects using CO2-rich natural gas.

Horizon Ocean Management (HOM) – a subsidiary joint venture between Mitsui and Hokutaku (the leading turbine maintenance company in Japan) – and Rovco, a global provider of subsea robotic and hydrographic survey solutions to the offshore wind industry, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for through-life subsea asset integrity and balance of plant survey solutions for the Japanese offshore wind market.
