While safety concerns around the COVID-19 pandemic prevented OCEANS 2020 Singapore and OCEANS 2020 Gulf Coast from being held in-person, event co-sponsors, the Marine Technology Society and the IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society, combined the two events into a global virtual conference. Organizers expect 1,000 scientists and engineers from across the globe will gather virtually to attend OCEANS 2020 Singapore – U.S. Gulf Coast on October 5 - 14.

MAN Energy Solutions has announced the latest order for its MAN 175D four-stroke engine in connection with the building of four corvettes for the Finnish Navy. Each of the four ships will be equipped with 4 × MAN 12V175D-MEL GenSets with a total output of 7,700 kW (4 × 1920 kW) – in total, 16 GenSets.

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has secured an order to provide cargo handling cranes for four 62,000 dwt general cargo ships to be built in Asia. The order is booked into Cargotec's third quarter 2020 order intake, with deliveries planned to commence during the third quarter of 2021 and completed during the first quarter of 2022.

Ship repair activity at Gibdock has continued to be rock solid, despite uncertainties through the first three quarters of 2020 relating to Covid-19 and Brexit. Occupancy levels remain high, contracts continue to be agreed and scheduled dry dockings are already booked into 2021, the Gibraltar-based yard reports.
 


Gibbs & Cox will support their partner, Halter Marine, on the recent auxiliary general ocean surveillance ship (T-AGOS(X)) industry study award. With the detail design and construction contract award expected in 2022, we are excited to begin laying the foundation for the anticipated delivery of the first vessel in 2025.
