Marine engineer specialists, Malin Marine Services, part of the Malin group, in partnership with The Scottish Salmon Company and HSSMI, have secured funding from the Seafood Innovation Fund to undertake an exciting new project to identify viable, cost-effective technologies for aquaculture work boats, whilst reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

As the search for oil has moved into deeper waters with more distance to shore-based facilities, Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessels have become essential tools in the process.

Boston-based Sea Machines Robotics, a leading developer of autonomous command and control systems for commercial vessels, announces that it has entered a strategic alliance with Damen Shipyards Group, of the Netherlands, to incorporate the company’s autonomous and wireless-helm systems as standard features in Damen’s global vessel build catalogue.

“We used to do shore power projects on ships some years ago, but the market was too slow. Now however, with new regulation and grants supporting ship-owner’s shore power investments, we are back in the business of shore power. Together with NG3 we are ready to take on new orders,“ Aleksander Askeland CSO at Yara Marine Technologies says. 

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has secured an order from SIA Solutions LLC to deliver 36 traction winch systems, 72 storage reel brakes and electrical control systems to the specialized concrete mat sinking unit, ARMOR 1, currently under construction at Thoma-Sea Marine Constructors LLC, Houma, Louisiana for the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE).
