The U.S. Department of Commerce has announced that the Business Network for Offshore Wind is a recipient of its Market Development Cooperator Program (MDCP) grant, the U.S. government’s most successful export assistance program. The Network will use the grant to launch its Global Gateway program, which will facilitate connecting U.S.-based companies to the global offshore wind marketplace and supply chain by organizing delegation trips to tradeshows and conferences in key markets in Europe, Asia, and South America.

Sentinel Subsea, specialists in passive well integrity monitoring, has secured a six-figure investment from Alba Equity and Scottish Enterprise as it continues to develop its proven game-changing technology for the monitoring of subsea wells.

Fugro’s advanced geotechnical testing laboratory capacity is set to increase by over 50 % across Europe and America by the end of 2021. CRP Subsea and Hellenic Cables have completed dynamic cable testing at the University of Exeter, as part of the EU-funded MaRINET2 research programme. The results show that when tested with a CRP Subsea Bend Stiffener (protecting it against overbending) the power cable survived 3.7 times as many cycles and was on average 72.5% stiffer than the power cable alone. These results highlight the importance of a Bend Stiffener’s presence to extend the fatigue life of the system to be used in future Floating Offshore Wind (FOW) applications.

In May 2021, The International Cable Protection Committee (ICPC) launched a campaign to hire a UK-based Project Manager, and after a thorough review process of qualified candidates, the ICPC has selected Mr. John Wrottesley to fill this new role and they are pleased to announce his contract with the organization commenced on September 14, 2021. Mr. Wrottesley joins the team from Red Penguin (an Associate Member company of the ICPC).



Subsea 7  has received a very large1 award by Petrobras for new long-term day-rate contracts for the pipelay support vessels (PLSV) Seven Waves, Seven Rio and Seven Sun. The contracts will be recorded in backlog in the fourth quarter.

TechnipFMC and Talos Energy Inc. have entered into a long-term strategic alliance to develop and deliver technical and commercial solutions to Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) projects along the United States Gulf Coast. The alliance combines Talos’s offshore operational strength and sub-surface expertise with TechnipFMC’s extended history in subsea engineering, system integration and automation and control.

To reduce the number of harmful emissions produced as it achieves the world record for the longest autonomous mission at sea, Sea Machines Robotics, a leading developer of autonomous command and advanced perception systems, is utilizing renewable Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) biofuel, sourced by Bunker One in Denmark, to power its autonomous Nellie Bly tugboat.
