KONGSBERG Group (KONGSBERG) is going to install and test autonomous technology on two vessels in different operational environments. This project is receiving funding of almost NOK 200 million (Euro 20.1 million) – one of the largest grants ever given to Norwegian players – from Horizon 2020, an EU research program. KONGSBERG is publicly announced the news of this project on Tuesday, January 21,2020.

Polarcus has commenced the acquisition of the latest phase of the Cygnus regional multi-client 3D survey in the Vulcan Sub-basin, offshore north-west Australia. The 1,500 sq. km Phase 3 South survey, covering the Skua, Swift and Montara area, completes over 7,200 sq. km of continuous XArray™ Triple Source coverage.

RC Dock Europe, part of RC Dock USA Inc., delivered two fully automated launch and recovery systems (LARS) for Fugro’s new Autonomous Surface Vessels. (ASV) Designed to be used in rough offshore conditions and operated from a moving support vessel, both LAR systems are fully automated and of a “open” design making it suitable to receive ASV’s with different types of keel mounted payloads up to a weight of 6 Tons.

Fugro and the Colombian Maritime Authority (Dirección General Maritima, DIMAR) have completed a joint environmental seep hunting study to help assess the country’s resource potential in the Caribbean Sea. The study involved shallow water seabed sediment coring, geochemical analyses, and seabed heat flow measurements. Fugro also provided classroom and vessel-based training to DIMAR personnel.

John Dunn, formerly of Oceaneering, has been hired to assemble and manage a highly experienced subsea vessel management team, as CEO Shane Guidry looks to grow Harvey Gulf’s subsea business. Prior to Oceaneering, Mr. Dunn was the director of operations at Meridian Ocean Services, a sub-sea service provider acquired by Oceaneering in 2016. He is also an unlimited USCG chief engineer and worked for Chevron Shipping’s tanker and FPSO fleets.

Kraken Robotics Inc. announces that its wholly owned subsidiary, Kraken Robotic Systems Inc., has finalized the contract for the OceanVision™ project with the Ocean Supercluster and industry partners (Petroleum Research Newfoundland and Labrador, Ocean Choice International and Nunavut Fisheries Association).

Eni reports the start-up of its offshore Agogo oilfield, situated in the 15/06 Block in the Angolan waters. The start-up takes place just nine months after its discovery thanks to the operational synergies facilitated by the Floating Production Storage Offloading (FPSO) Ngoma, West Hub production center, situated 15km from the oilfield.
