SLB has been awarded three contracts by Petrobras for completion hardware and services for up to 35 subsea wells in the development of Petrobras’ offshore Buzios Wave II oilfield. The scope of the contract includes SLB’s full bore electric interval control valves and electric subsurface safety valves. The award is a catalyst toward full production system electrification for Petrobras, improving production availability via more reliable completions.

SBM Offshore announces that ExxonMobil Guyana Limited (“EMGL”) has confirmed the award of contracts for the Whiptail development project located in the Stabroek Block in Guyana. Under these contracts, SBM Offshore will construct and install FPSO Jaguar. Ownership will transfer to EMGL prior to the FPSO’s installation in Guyana, and SBM Offshore expects to operate the FPSO for 10 years under the Operations and Maintenance Enabling Agreement signed in 2023. The award follows completion of front-end engineering and design studies, receipt of requisite government approvals and the final investment decision on the project by ExxonMobil and block co-venturers.

The European Commission has approved, under EU State aid rules, a €350 million German scheme to support the production of renewable hydrogen through the European Hydrogen Bank's “Auctions-as-a-Service” tool. The German measure is in line notably with the objectives of the REPowerEU Plan and the European Green Deal Industrial Plan. It will contribute to further reducing imports of Russian fossil fuels and fast forward the green transition.

ABL, a global leading energy and marine consultants, expands its European presence with a new office in Constanta, Romania, to support the Black Sea region’s offshore energy and maritime markets. The office is managed by its Director Alexander Shterev who is Principal Surveyor of ABL Bulgaria, supported by the country manager to ABL Bulgaria, Lyubomir Djambazov.

DNV, an independent energy expert and assurance provider, has been selected by Equinor to provide verification services for FEED (Front End Engineering and Design) of the substation of the Bandibuli / Firefly floating wind farm. The wind farm comprises two 75 km2 areas, 70 km offshore Ulsan in South Korea. DNV will leverage its verification services and expertise within offshore substations and floating structures to ensure the reliability and efficiency of this project. This includes independent assessment and validation of standards basis, design requirements and specifications with a focus on optimizing performance and minimizing risks.

Iberdrola, through its Brazilian subsidiary Neoenergia, took an important step towards advancing studies into the development of offshore wind energy generation. Neoenergia has just installed the floating LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) sensor to collect data on wind and sea characteristics in an area on the north coast of Rio de Janeiro. This is the first time that a company has used an internationally certified system in Brazil with maximum performance rating (level three), which allows for greater data accuracy and reliability.
