Tata Steel has secured a contract to provide high frequency induction (HFI) line pipe for an oil and gas project north-east of Shetland in the UK North Sea.
The company will manufacture more than 10km of HFI line pipe from its 20” Mill in Hartlepool for ‘sleeve pipe application’ – housing smaller, critical pipelines – as part of a bundle system for the project.
The scope of work involves five different wall thicknesses and five different diameters and the contract duration is 28 weeks.
Tata Steel has supplied more than one million tonnes of pipeline for oil and gas projects in the North Sea over 24 years - including in excess of 500,000 meters of reel installed pipe and more than £250 million invested in subcontracts for North Sea projects.
