QatarEnergy has announced that it is proceeding with a new LNG expansion project, the “North Field West” project, to further raise the State of Qatar’s LNG production capacity to 142 million tons per annum (MTPA) before the end of this decade, representing an increase of almost 85% from current production levels.

TDI-Brooks, as a subcontractor of Drebbel de Mexico out of Cd. del Carmen, successfully and safely completed a geotechnical coring campaign. TDI-Brooks deployed its geotechnical coring tools and operators on the Laguana Azul. A total of one-hundred fifty-eight (158) gravity CPT’s (gCPT´s) and eight (8) T-Bar´s in three (3) pipeline corridors was performed.

Helix Energy Solutions Group, Inc. has secured a deepwater well intervention contract award by Esso Exploration and Production Nigeria (Deepwater) Ltd.(“Esso”). The project, located offshore Nigeria in the Erha and Usan fields, is expected to commence in September 2024 with the vessel expected to be in Nigeria into 2025. The fields are located approximately 97 km offshore of Nigeria in water depths ranging from 700 m to 1,500 m.

Global jackup marketed utilization has been on an upward trajectory since 2017 and reached its peak of 94% at the end of 2023. The North Sea jackup market has also improved year-on-year since 2017, except for a blip in 2020 when the pandemic kicked in, however booming demand isn’t the main driver behind this but instead a shrinking fleet.
