The methods for controlling offshore subsea robotic systems from shore are changing rapidly. Increasing costs, the need for more operational flexibility and most recently reducing offshore personnel due to COVID-19 are just a few of the drivers for increasing onshore access to offshore operations. 

Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) and leading classification society DNV have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at KORMARINE, committing to establishing SHI's state-of-the-art Remote Operation Centre (ROC) for real-time monitoring and control of Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS). 

Trelleborg Marine and Infrastructure has signed an exclusive multi-year distribution agreement with VIKING Life-Saving Equipment A/S (VIKING), a global market leader in maritime and offshore safety solutions. Under the agreement, Trelleborg will be the exclusive distributor of the highly safe and efficient Fender Davit systems manufactured by VIKING, further solidifying its commitment to delivering the highest quality and most reliable products to its customers.

The Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) and the Department of Commerce’s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) agreeing to collaborate on areas of mutual interest with respect to Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) energy activities and environmental stewardship.

VARD and Windward Offshore, a consortium, currently under establishment and led by ASSC´s offshore arm SeaRenergy Group in Germany announces that they have signed a contract for the design and construction for two hybrid Commissioning Service Operation Vessels (CSOV). The parties have also agreed on an option for two additional vessels.

NOAA has launched an interactive dashboard that indicates high compliance with endangered North Atlantic right whale mandatory vessel speed zones. The dashboard is generated from Automatic Identification Systems (AIS) data for vessels that are subject to existing mandatory speed regulations and allows users to explore vessel activity by speed, season, month, speed zone and vessel type. AIS is an automated safety tracking system that provides the location — and other information — of vessels in a given area.
