Ampelmann Performs First Cargo Lifts for Apache North Sea

Dutch offshore access provider Ampelmann recently completed its latest project in the North Sea, creating yet again a number of milestones for the company – working for Olympic Vessel Holdings, Ampelmann supported an Apache North Sea (a subsidiary of Apache Corporation (NYSE,NASDAQ:APA) project and carried out its first cargo lifts in the Oil & Gas sector.

After having safely transferred more than eight million kilograms of cargo in Offshore Wind, Ampelmann is looking forward to further expanding this service in the Oil & Gas industry.

The project utilized the innovative and proven E1000 system on the Olympic Delta vessel enabling both people and cargo transfers to SPM2 and SPM3, two Single Point Mooring platforms a short distance from the Beryl Alpha platform. The Ampelmann E1000 is the proven market solution for safely transferring personnel as well as cargo up to one tonne in high sea states. All it takes to change from people to cargo transfer mode is the push of a button. The system supported critical maintenance work on SPM3 and provided significant benefit to Apache during the helideck refurbishment on SPM2. The duration of the project was 30 days.

“The use of the E1000 at SPM2 and 3 has showcased how innovations can transform the way we work,” said Lorenz Nehring, Business Development Manager UK & Norway at Ampelmann. “The trust that Apache put in our onshore and offshore teams has paid off and we are pleased to have safely delivered this project.”

Over the course of the 30-day campaign, the E1000 enabled more than 1,925 safe personnel transfers and 354 lifts, transferring 118 tonnes of cargo. The system was installed on a 12.1m pedestal and operated at a height of nearly 40m above sea level.
