Okeanus Delivers NGC MHU Winch System to Northrop Grumman

Okeanus Science & Technology, LLC (Okeanus), an established marine equipment and engineering service provider, has completed the factory acceptance test, source inspection, and delivery of their latest USV based winch for Northrop Grumman’s AQS-24 mine hunting system. The NGC MHU winch is the newest in the expanding Okeanus catalog of autonomous USV based products, which includes winches and handling systems.

1 okeanuslogo copyThe NGC MHU winch incorporates a number of new features developed specifically for autonomous USV winches and expands upon the Company’s product capabilities and represents the next iteration of USV based products offered by Okeanus. Okeanus has an extensive history building USV based autonomous tow winches in addition to launch and recovery systems for mine hunting and mine countermeasures.

The ASV market has seen a significant uptick in the development of new autonomous systems in recent years. Both United States and foreign navies appear to be putting substantial resources into autonomous programs, specifically for mine hunting and mine neutralization operations.
