ULA announced that it has signed agreements with Bollinger Shipyards in Lockport, Louisiana and Bristol Harbor Group, Inc. in Bristol, Rhode Island, to design, oversee and build a new ship to transport Vulcan rockets from the factory in Decatur, Alabama to the launch sites at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida and Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.

Motive Offshore Group (Motive), which specializes in engineering, inspection and rental equipment for the energy sector, has secured a six-figure contract with Briggs Marine, a leading provider of marine and environmental services, to design and manufacture a 300Te spooler package. The new equipment will allow Briggs Marine to future-proof its planned operations with the spooler set to be deployed across eight UK renewable projects within the next two years.

The ocean energy sector accelerated in 2023, according to the latest statistics released today by Ocean Energy Europe. The Bluestone Group has secured a contract for plan approval and site supervision of two new cutting-edge cable-laying vessels operated by Prysmian, who is a world leader in the energy and telecom cable systems industry and is leading the way in energy transition and digital transformation. The contract acquisition follows Prysmian’s announcement in December 2023 of a €350 million investment to expand its cable-laying vessel fleet to facilitate the global power grid upgrade for the energy transition.

CGG has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Baker Hughes, an energy technology company, at the 2024 Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston to facilitate the parties exploring jointly offered carbon capture & storage (CCS) solutions. The collaboration and proposed commercial alliance intend to support the rapid increase of CCS projects that is underway by providing high-quality and fully integrated end-to-end solutions to screen, select, characterize, and monitor potential carbon storage sites worldwide.

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) has completed its environmental review of Beacon Wind’s proposal to test suction bucket foundations on its lease area offshore Massachusetts. Based on the analysis in the environmental assessment, BOEM determined that the proposed testing will not cause significant impacts to environmental resources. Suction bucket foundations are an alternative foundation type that allow for installation of turbines without the need for pile driving.

SLB has announced the award of a sizeable integrated engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) contract by OKEA to its OneSubsea™ joint venture and Subsea7. The contract will see the partnership develop the Bestla (formerly known as Brasse) Project in the North Sea, offshore Norway, specifically to accelerate the subsea tieback delivery to aging platforms for profitable and sustainable marginal field development.

In a landmark partnership, Damen Financial Services (DFS) and Siemens Financial Services (SFS) have joined forces to establish a new facility for vessel financing solutions: Damen Ship Lease (DSL). The DSL facility is now one of the funds of Damen Ship Lease Cooperation which is managed by DFS. It is designed to provide current and prospective ship owners with the ability to expand their fleets by enabling them to acquire state-of-the-art vessels using flexible financing options.

In case of oil and gas, digital twins can support the entire project lifecycle from the project design to commissioning. Fairbanks Morse Defense (FMD), a portfolio company of Arcline Investment Management, has been awarded a purchase order by HII’s Ingalls Shipbuilding division to deliver an FM PC2.5 STC common rail technology retrofit kit, which will upgrade existing PC2.5 STC engines currently installed on the US Navy’s San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ships.
